“There are places whose scents we remember longer than landscapes. When spider lilies, ginger butterflies and frangipani trees line the smallest path and lotuses bloom in the smallest body of water, the landscapes in turn become perfume. Among the flowers indigenous to Bali, the inhabitants have made the frangipani flower the emblem of their island and the offering to their many Gods and goddesses of the Hindu pantheon. Sensitive to the ceremonies, the dances, the offerings where the smells and the colors embraced each other to become one, it seemed to me that the perfume of these flowers spoke of the beauty and diversity of the island.
